Apostate Evangelists & Teachers

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2nd Corinthians 11:13-14

The Law of Reciprocity — The Secret of Financial Prosperity

The Law of Reciprocity is a term that has been coined by Pat Robertson of The 700 Club/Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). “The law of use, coupled with reciprocity, makes an unbeatable combination”, based on the scripture in Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you…” The scripture reference is in regards to mercy, judgment, condemnation, and forgiveness, but Robertson believes and teaches MONEY and PROSPERITY. Robertson says about tithes, “If you give to God, He gives back thirty-, sixty- and one hundredfold”. God’s Blessings = MONEY.

Last year a DVD was released called “The Secret”, a motivational, self help film which is purported to change people’s lives. To harness the power of “the secret”, one must think positively, which changes one’s environment and events positively. A person becomes a magnet for “good things”. The “Law of Attraction” teaches that we can all be happy by thinking happy thoughts and applying ourselves which, according to James Arthur Ray, a teacher of “The Secret”, is the action part of the law. Sound familiar?

Robertson claims that a person’s talents (and money) are to be given, or applied, to guarantee a “thirty-, sixty- and one hundredfold” return. The high return is the motivation for the giving. In Matthew 20, the parable of the laborers tells a different story. Every laborer, whether he worked all day or part of the day, received the same wages. The laborers’ wages, or “rewards”, did not multiply according to their efforts for the landowner. Jesus’ parable was a parable of heaven. We are to labor for Him and we will receive our reward IN HEAVEN when the work is done. We are not to “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal” Matthew 6:19

According to Robertson’s teaching, anyone can be successful by using his techniques – believers or unbelievers — all one has to do is tithe and give one’s “talents”. Any time one can be successful using a particular doctrine or teaching, and be sucessful without Jesus Christ, the teaching comes under deep suspicion.

The Law of Reciprocity is based on greed, not on GOD’S Law.
